Will is CEO of Nest Insight and has over 20 years of experience in strategy, public policy, research and communications, with a particular focus on personal finance and pensions. He is a member of the Financial Inclusion Committee, which advises the UK Government on the implementation of its Financial Inclusion Strategy, and is a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science. 

Will joined Nest shortly after it was formed in 2008, joining the Executive Team in 2010 as Strategy Director. In 2016, he launched Nest Insight, leading it ever since and overseeing its development and growth as a public-benefit research and innovation centre.

Jo leads Nest Insight’s public-benefit research and innovation programme, with a focus on finding better ways to support low- and moderate-income households to be financially secure, both today and into retirement. She works collaboratively with industry, government and employers, to better understand the challenges people face, and develop, pilot and scale practical real-world solutions to those challenges.  

Jo has over 20 years’ experience in social and commercial research and innovation across the public, private and third sectors. She believes in working together across boundaries to find better ways to solve tricky problems.

Ian was appointed as CEO of Nest Corporation on 1 May 2024. During his time at Nest he has led the development and implementation of Nest’s 2030 strategy, focusing on meeting the needs of low and moderate earners and delivering on Nest’s purpose of building financial peace of mind for all. 

Ian has 25 years’ experience working in financial services. He was a Group Board Director at Skipton Building Society from 2012 to 2023 where he held positions of Commercial & Strategy Director for 10 years and then Interim Group CEO. Prior to his time at Skipton Building Society Ian has held senior leadership roles at Homeloan Management Limited, Virgin Money, Bradford & Bingley and Capital One.

Charlotte Clark CBE has been the Director of Cross-Cutting Policy and Strategy at the FCA since November 2024.  Her team leads on areas such as Consumer Duty, Vulnerability, Redress and Prudential Policy as well as areas such as the development of policy for AI and Pensions. Prior to this, Charlotte was the Director of Regulation at ABI, leading on areas such as Solvency II reform and the ESG. Her background is in the civil service where she had senior roles in HMT, DWP and DfE including being the Director for Private Pensions at DWP.

Catherine Foot is Director of the Standard Life Centre for the Future of Retirement. A social researcher, policy analyst, campaigner and writer, she established the Centre (originally launched as Phoenix Insights) in 2021. 
  
Catherine has spent her career working to improve public policy and business practice, with a focus on pensions, employment, health, social care and housing. Before her current role, she was the founding Director of Evidence at the Centre for Ageing Better, and has held senior roles at the King’s Fund and Cancer Research UK. 
  
She is passionate about creating fairer systems that support people to thrive throughout longer working lives and into retirement, and believes that building partnerships across the public, private and voluntary sectors is essential to driving lasting system change. Her work explores how policy and business must adapt to the changing realities of how we work, save and retire, in order to improve the financial prospects of future generations of retirees.

Kate is CEO of Fair4All Finance, a not for profit organisation working to boost financial inclusion. In 2025 Fair4All Finance was awarded £132.5m to address the significant challenge of financial exclusion in the UK where over 20 million people have low resilience. 

Fair4All Finance is a system change organisation influencing change with research and insight; enabling transformational innovation and working to scale fair and affordable products to meet the needs of millions of customers. 

Kate is a member of HM Treasury’s Financial Inclusion Committee, chaired the Access to Credit Subcommittee and was part of the Access to Insurance Subcommittee developing Government’s Financial Inclusion Strategy. Fair4All Finance now has a key delivery role in the strategy on five major programmes across credit, insurance and financial capability. Deploying over £85m to date on financial inclusion, Fair4All Finance has invested in supporting ethical providers like credit unions and Community Development Finance Institutions and in investing in direct settlement technology that enables the seamless clearing of outstanding debts in consolidation lending. Kate’s teams have also led pilots in the UK that adopt and adapt international models like the No Interest Loan Scheme and the Small Sum Lending pilot, drawn from Australia and the US respectively.

Sope leads the delivery of Nest Insight’s primary research and innovation programme. Her work primarily focuses on identifying solutions that support low- and moderate-income households’ financial security and wellbeing today and in the future. Working collaboratively with industry and academic partners, she conducts research to better understand people’s financial journeys, the role of employers in supporting financial wellbeing, and the real dynamics within households that shape their financial lives and decisions. 

Before joining Nest Insight in 2022, she worked in research, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and strategy roles, leading work on social protection, youth employment, and gender and inclusion.

Alexandra Miles is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, recently completed an eMBA with Quantic School of Business and Technology, and holds an MSc in Actuarial Science from Imperial College Business School and a MEng in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol. 
 
Alexandra holds several prominent industry roles. She is the founder Chair of the IFoA Pension Gap Working Party, Chair of the IFoA Ageing Populations Working Party, and co-Chair of the Data & Research sub–group of the Pension Equity Group. She is also a member of the Living Pension Research Advisory Group at the Living Wage Foundation.  
 
She is a Senior Strategy Manager at Legal & General Asset Management, where she leads on the research for pensions and savings adequacy feeding into L&G’s Decades Ahead programme, and supports responsible investment integration and evolution across the Defined Contribution (DC) default strategies 
 
Across her work, Alexandra champions data driven insight, industry collaboration and evidence based policy that support more inclusive, sustainable and resilient retirement outcomes for millions of UK savers.

Ruth leads Nest Insight’s programme of research into later life financial security, including retirement savings for self-employed people. 

Prior to joining Nest Insight, she led the Financial Behaviour and Gambling Harms team at the Behavioural Insights Team. She has also worked with the World Bank’s Africa Gender Innovation Lab and was as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow in Burundi.

Julian is a leading practitioner and thought leader in the area of equity-centred design for over 15 years. His work centres on what it means to design and realise futures (and systems) that enable Black communities to live well for generations. 
 
A community activist at heart, Julian’s practice centres on ways to interrupt logics and methodologies of transformation that do not nourish or progress the lives of those typically pushed to the margins of society. He founded and is the Executive Director of Rooted: The Centre for Reparative Innovation, an award-winning civic innovation centre creating alternative infrastructure that enables Black communities to live well for generations. 
 
This has meant Julian has been a frontline provocateur of public service innovation and public sector commissioning, ensuring public services serve communities meaningfully. Alongside leading Rooted, Julian is guest lecturer at the RCA and UCL, a social innovation coach and father of two, which he considers the most important vocation he has.

Helen is Chief Executive of Money and Mental Health. Helen was a core part of the founding team at Money and Mental Health, running the organisation’s communications and influencing work before becoming CEO in 2018. Since then the charity has more than doubled in size, and achieved lasting impact across government policy, regulation and beyond as well as becoming the ‘go to’ organisation for understanding the toxic link between money and mental health problems.  

A passionate campaigner, her proudest moment so far was the team winning the ‘Recovery Space’ campaign, securing vital debt respite for everyone using NHS mental health crisis services. 

Guillermo leads the delivery of Nest Insight’s projects on workplace emergency savings and on investing and growing. His work focuses on designing and testing solutions that support low- and moderate-income households’ financial security and wellbeing today and in the future. Working collaboratively with industry and academic partners, Guillermo is responsible for research on solutions to support more people to save and invest, and the specific role that employers can play in supporting saving behaviours.  

Prior to joining Nest Insight, he spent almost a decade across the UK’s What Works Network working on a range of topics including poverty alleviation, homelessness, employment, health and education. He is a member of the Cabinet Office’s What Works Advice Panel.

Molly Broome is Research and Policy Lead at Nest Insight. She is responsible for Nest Insight’s public policy and advocacy work, providing policy analysis and engagement across all of Nest Insight’s research programmes. Prior to joining Nest Insight, Molly was a senior economist at the Resolution Foundation, where her research focussed on wealth inequality and intergenerational fairness.

As Director of Personal Finance at Moneybox, Brian provides financial education to inspire and empower our customers to work towards their financial goals with confidence. He leads their policy and public affairs work, maintaining strong connections with government, HM Treasury and the FCA while also serving as a spokesperson for the business.  

Brian works with Moneybox’s product teams to shape the guidance and advice that helps customers make better financial decisions. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager who previously led the advice team at Wealthsimple and started his career as an adviser at Coutts.

Joanne Phillips is an experienced business leader currently leading Monzo’s fast-growing £16bn wealth business. Joanne is General Manager – Wealth, and accountable for the savings, investments, pensions and insurance offerings that serve the needs of 4M+ customers. She has extensive experience working across a range of financial services including with Wealthify, Aviva and BlackRock.

Polly Mackenzie is Co-Founder and CEO of Zinc Innovation Partners, where she leads investment and venture-building partnerships that help scientists and innovators turn breakthrough research into scalable, impactful businesses. 

She brings two decades of experience across government, civil society and innovation including serving as Director of Policy to the Deputy Prime Minister, founding the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, and leading the think-tank Demos. She served for three years as the first Chief Social Purpose Officer in the higher education sector, at University of the Arts London. Polly also advises Family Business UK and the Future Governance Forum on purpose-driven growth and effective governance.

Michelle leads Nest Insight’s strategy development and implementation, as well our work to build funding partnerships that support our mission. Michelle joined the team in 2016.  

In 2019, Michelle undertook a secondment to the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program in Washington D.C., where she worked with the team on policy and market solutions around retirement saving. Michelle has been recognised as a ‘Rising Star’ in the Women in Pensions Awards. 

Prior to joining Nest Insight, Michelle worked at the Social Market Foundation, a UK public policy think tank, and at Serious, the live music company that produces the London Jazz Festival. Outside of work, Michelle sings in a choir, practices yoga and tries to get her toddler to sleep.

Karen works to spark both policy and market changes that will enable everyone in America to successfully save and invest in assets that grow. A longtime believer in the power of automatic saving and capital markets investing—as demonstrated most powerfully by the defined contribution retirement savings system—Karen is especially focused on bringing about changes to our financial systems that will benefit households with low levels of wealth.  

Karen speaks and moderates regularly at investment and retirement industry events, on podcasts, and in the media on how we can strengthen the balance sheet of everyone in America. Before coming to the Aspen Institute, Karen spent 10 years at the Financial Health Network.

Michael Davis is founder and president of MLD Advisory Group, a retirement, fiduciary, and policy-focused advisory firm. Mr. Davis has over 34 years’ experience across retirement strategy, investment management, investment banking and US federal retirement policy. He served most recently as Head of Global Retirement Strategy at T. Rowe Price, a global investment firm where over two-thirds of the firm’s $1.8 trillion under management is retirement-related. Previously he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor which has jurisdiction over the $15 trillion private sector retirement and health benefit system in the US. 

Michael has previously held senior positions at JPMorgan Securities Inc, JPMorgan Asset Management, and Prudential Financial. He has extensive board and fiduciary experience, including roles with T. Rowe Price Trust Company, the T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan, the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association, and the Aspen Institute Leadership Forum on Retirement Savings. Mr. Davis enjoys reading presidential biographies, travel, and spending time with his family.

 

Kendra is a Partner at Mindset, an advocacy and advisory firm. Prior to joining Mindset, Kendra served as the Pensions Policy Director and Senior Tax Counsel for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. In these positions, she advised then-Chair Patty Murray on all pension-related issues and managed all aspects of the committee’s retirement agenda. Kendra also advised Senator Murray on all tax-related matters. 

Kendra also served as a Department of Labor detailee to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce as well as an Employee Benefits Law Specialist for the Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration. Kendra’s private sector career includes positions at the HR Policy Association, the law firms Slevin & Hart, P.C. and Venable LLP, as well as at Washington Council Ernst & Young. 

Kendra has been an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center, the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and Stetson University College of Law, and is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center (LLM, Tax), The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law (JD), and Dartmouth College.
