Self-employed retirement savings research in collaboration with Monzo
This notice explains how we use your personal data if you take part in our research.
Who we are
We are the Centre for Inclusive Money at Nest (‘Inclusive Money’). We are a public-benefit research organisation with a mission to find ways to support people on low and moderate incomes to become more financially secure. We were set up by and are part of Nest Corporation, a pension provider. You can contact us at participate@inclusivemoney.org.uk and find out more about our work on our website at www.inclusivemoney.org.uk.
Inclusive Money is the data controller for this research. This means we are responsible for deciding how your personal data is used.

You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing participate@inclusivemoney.org.uk. If you do, we will stop using your personal data and delete it from our records.
Types of data

We will ask about your ethnic background. This is known as ‘special category data’ and receives extra legal protection. You do not have to answer this question. If you do, it helps us understand whether experiences differ across different groups of people. We will only use this information with your explicit consent.
We will record interviews to help us accurately capture what participants tell us.
Recordings will only be used for this research and will be deleted no later than six months after the project has finished.
How we will use your data
We will use the information you share to understand how self-employed people think about retirement saving. This will help us to produce a report which will include recommendations for changes to policies, products and services for self-employed people.
If you agree to participate in our research, we will use your email address and phone number to contact you to arrange an interview and to send you a £50 voucher as a thank you for taking part in the interview.
We will keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for this research and will delete it no later than six months after the findings have been published.
Researchers from Inclusive Money and Monzo may attend interviews. Interview transcripts and notes will only be accessed by people involved in the research. Interview recordings will only be accessed by researchers from Inclusive Money.
Research findings will be reported in a way that does not identify individual participants. This means that we will not include your name and also edit any quotes so that no one can identify you if they read the report.
